Sky Sports Ambassadors

Woodfield School launched their Sky Sports Living for Sport, Sporting Ambassadors in January 2015 with 12 pupils selected.

The project focuses on improving pupils Physical, Social, Personal, Cognitive and Creative skills by supporting them in PE lessons, Extra-Curricular activities through School Competitions and in the Community with local Sports Clubs.

Sky Sports living for Sport mentor and former Great Britain Boxer Hannah Beharry provided support to pupils by delivering a whole School assembly, and a number of interactive workshops; covering the 6 keys to success, teambuilding, and fitness.

Greenhouse Head Coach Dan O’Brien along with Hannah will continue to mentor pupils throughout the academic year, inspiring and motivating them to exceed in sport. “After meeting the young people involved in the project I can see how much it will benefit them. It will help them to grow in confidence, try new things and also feel very important. I think it's a fantastic project picked for the right people, geared with the right teacher who gets the project. I wish you guys all the best and success! (Hannah, Athlete Mentor)

On Friday 10th April, the group will travel to Osterley Sky Sports HQ where they will film their very own Sky Sports news story and tour the facilities.

The Pupils chosen topic is English (Mind, Body, and Sport). Each pupil will be given a role to play, which will create their own Woodfield news story. Roles include; producer, director, editor, presenter, eyewitness, expert, camera operator and scriptwriter. Pupils will need to work as a team to create their news story with help from Sky Sports professionals.

Head Coach Dan O’Brien who leads on the project said “This is the first year Woodfield have worked with Sky Sports Living for Sport, it is a powerful tool to inspire pupils to greater themselves as a person and in sport. We aim to promote and stimulate lifelong participation in physical activity at pupils chosen level of participation.”

As a celebration and reward for the pupil’s achievements, the group will travel to AirHop in July. AirHop is an indoor Trampoline Park with a Dodgeball arena and gymnastics area. Pupils will also be presented with a Greenhouse T-shirt and framed certificate at the end of year Sports assembly.
