Exclusions Policy

This policy should be viewed as part of the school’s comprehensive policy on the positive management of pupil behaviour.  Fixed-term exclusions will be used only if the incident is deemed too serious for other sanctions or, in the case of repeated misbehaviour, the school’s reward and sanctions policy, designed to support learning in the classroom is obviously not working.  In short it will be to emphasise our determination to create a safe and calm environment in which youngsters can learn successfully.

 

Permanent exclusions will be used only when the health and safety of pupils and staff is severely compromised.  Every effort will be made to have the placement reviewed and a detailed plan of action put in place to support the pupil at Woodfield as soon as it is apparent that a permanent exclusion is the likely result if the behaviour of the pupil is not modified.
