Covid Testing January 2022

Testing upon return to school in Spring Term, January 2022

nSecondary schools have been asked to run on-site Covid tests in January when students return after the Christmas holidays.

In an email to schools sent on Monday 13th December, the Department for Education requested that we once again prepare for on site testing at the start for Spring Term.

The government has said testing all students in secondary schools in January will help to reduce Covid transmission "after a period of social mixing" over the school holidays.

In order for us to be prepared for on site testing in January, we are asking parents to complete the permission form stating whether or not they would like their child to be tested on site at Woodfield when we return on 5th January.

The testing in January will be using Lateral Flow tests slightly different to those used previously, in that they will only require a nasal swab. They will not require a throat swab, which many people find uncomfortable. The therapy team have prepared a social story to help you explain the process to your child.

You can complete the permission form here

The full terms of consent are viewable on the permission form. Participation in the testing program is not mandatory.

By completing the form as soon as possible, you will help us to be able to arrange the necessary staffing to conduct tests, and make any other adjustments required. Further details will be communicated to parents as they are finalised.

The government has provided a document to answer many questions that parents may have regarding this process, which you can view by clicking this link.

Thank you for your cooperation.
