Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award practice expedition..

Well done to the students who completed the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award practice expedition.

This week, students undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award completed a two day practice expedition.

Duke of Edinburgh Award gives all young people the chance to develop skills for work and life and give them a better future.

On day one, after loading up their packs with all the equipment they needed,  they completed 5 miles of hiking through Fryent Country Park over a prescribed route using maps.  After completing the hike, they had to set up their tents and cook their own dinner using camp stoves. After spending a peaceful night in a tent on the school grounds, day two required them to complete another 5 mile hike before returning to school (and home) for a well deserved rest.

All the pupils would like to thank Ms O’Brien and Chris Steele for organising the expedition and giving them plenty of encouragement over the two days. Everyone who completed the two days had a great time and would recommend it to other pupils and parents.
