Sky Sports Ambassadors 2016

Sky Sports Ambassadors 2016

Woodfield School delivered their 2nd Sky Sports Living for Sport, Sporting Ambassadors in April, with 14 pupils selected.

The project focuses on improving pupils Physical, Social, Personal, Cognitive and Creative skills by supporting them in PE lessons, Extra-Curricular activities through School Competitions and in the Community with local Sports Clubs.

Sky Sports living for Sport mentor and former Great Britain Boxer Hannah Beharry provided support to pupils by delivering a whole School assembly, and a number of interactive workshops; covering the 6 keys to success, teambuilding, and fitness.

Greenhouse Head Coach Dan O’Brien along with Hannah will continue to mentor pupils throughout the academic year, inspiring and motivating them to exceed in sport. “This is my second year at Woodfield School and there is a massive difference in progress from the pupils. After meeting the young people last year I highlighted the benefits it has on them and the confidence and motivation they have to succeed in sport. (Hannah, Athlete Mentor)

Head Coach Dan O’Brien delivered an Easter Sports Programme to inspire pupils to get involved in sport outside of school and to improve their Greenhouse STEP skills. 25 pupils attended, a record breaker at Woodfield. The pupils participated in a range of activities including football, rugby, dodgeball, tennis and their very own Woodfield Olympics.

“This is the second year Woodfield have worked with Sky Sports Living for Sport, it is great to see the impact the project has on the pupils in such a short space of time. Last year 15 pupils joined a community club and now regularly play sport outside of school. This is a fantastic achievement, something everyone involved should be immensely proud of.”

As a celebration and reward for the pupil’s achievements, the group will travel to AirHop in July. AirHop is a favourite at Woodfield and is an indoor Trampoline Park with a Dodgeball arena and gymnastics area.

Pupils will also be presented with a Sky Sports Living for Sport T-Shirt and framed certificate at the end of year sports assembly.
