KS5

The KS5 Art curriculum

The aim of KS5 Art is to provide an enjoyable, comprehensive and relevant course giving pupils the confidence to work safely, skilfully and independently in all art contexts. The pupils are re- introduced to skills, processes, materials and terminology used to create different artistic outcomes that for some have had not experienced since KS3.
Pupils explore painting, mixed media, ceramics, textiles, printmaking, sublimation printing, murals and sculpture.
Pupils are encouraged to build on familiar techniques and traditional creative methods but also challenge themselves to widen their skills by investigating some of the very exciting opportunities that new technology presents.
The KS5 art curriculum has no external accreditation and provides an opportunity for pupils follow short projects that enable the finished artwork to be taken home and enjoyed.
Projects undertaken:
Myself – designing and making large scale shields which are divided into four sections each representing a part of their life and interests; initial paper designs are realised into mixed media shields and ceramic shields.

Meet the Monster – working in a textiles based project pupils produce soft toys and printed T shirts
