Year 8

Projects in Year 8 are designed to introduce pupils to new skills and approaches to working in art. Projects run for a whole term, enabling a wide range of experiences and challenges. Pupils are encouraged to keep sketchbooks and ICT as not only a research tool but one which develops skills and understanding through art specific programs.

For more detailed information on projects and approaches to the delivery of Year 8 art please use the tabs on the left hand menu.

Assessment within the Art and Design Department is a vital element of both the teaching and learning. Student progress is assessed both formatively and summatively

Assessment at Key Stage 3 is measured against level descriptors outlined within the National Curriculum for Art and Design

Students are aware of both their working levels and target levels, and regularly set individual targets for improvement.

The year 8 Curriculum aims to equip our students with the foundations to become great artists. Pupils will study the formal elements of art such as three-dimensional design, art from different cultures and art movements. Pupils will ICT to research different artists and cultures to inspire work.
